At Credera, we believe we’re truly better together. The Roster is a monthly series that allows you to get to know leaders at all levels across the firm. This month, Jen Koide, Aaron Grotzinger, and Rhea Horton share some insight into their personal and professional lives.

Favorite Movie: My favorite movie is The Namesake.

Dream Travel Destination: One of the travel destinations on my bucket list is Alaska to see the northern lights.

Best Concert Experience: Zac Brown Band at Wrigley. We had seats just behind the GA pit - we got to see Wrigley from the field and I was able to touch the ivy wall when I went to the beer counter.

Best Advice You’ve Ever Received: Sometimes it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

How You Avoid Work-From-Home Burnout: I take a few calls on the phone while I’m walking instead of joining every call from my desk.

Passions Outside of Work: Shopping for ingredients at the local farmers market and cooking all day, singing with my band (I’m part of a 80’s/90’s cover band), and going to the beach near my house – even if it’s only for an hour or two to read, swim in the ocean and smell the salt air.

Best Restaurant in Houston: Best restaurant is probably Pappas Bros. Steakhouse or B&B Butchers in Houston. Family favorites include El Tiempo for Tex-Mex and Le Colonial for Vietnamese!

Favorite Sports Team: Texas A&M Aggies for all sports.

Currently Playing: Worship 2021 Spotify playlist for morning work, Patternist Spotify Radio for the afternoons, and Dance Gavin Dance Spotify Radio when I really need to crank through some content.

Favorite Thing About Working at Credera: Our people deeply care to know about each other’s life story and what they care about in the world. A lot of consulting companies have a negative culture that is based on the shared misery of being a “road warrior” or working at a difficult client, but at Credera, we unify around the growth and impact are people are making within their families, their communities, and their clients. I look forward to our company events because it’s an opportunity to catch up with friends and not just check off a networking box.

Passions Outside of Work: My wife and I are involved in Houston’s First Baptist Church and the Married Young Adults ministry. We led a bible study class for a number of years and are starting a new role this month as co-directors in a Newlywed or Close class aimed at equipping young couples with biblical truth to create a healthy marriage and balanced home life. Outside of serving in the church, a lot of my time on the weekends is creating fun family experiences with my son Harris (2) and Annie (1 on 9/29!). My wife Chris Ann is the CEO of Fun in our home, and I have the title of COO of Fun as I make it happen!

Personal Goals: Get good enough at tennis where I could compete in some low level match play at the local tennis club, establish some formal mentor/mentee relationships within my church as part of my role within the Newlywed or Close class, and drive awareness and excitement for adoption within our community by continuing to share our adoption story and demystifying the process!

Best Restaurant in Dallas: I LOVE Thai food and enjoy everything at this small, local restaurant called Bangkok City Restaurant of off Bryan Street.

Dream Travel Destination: My dream destination is to see the pyramids in Egypt.

Best Concert Experience: Beyonce of course! She’s a true entertainer and puts on an amazing show and experience. She also has an amazing voice.

Best Advice You’ve Ever Received: To be in the moment and avoid overthinking. Just take a step forward and the rest will work itself out.

Personal Values: My main personal value is to treat others how I want to be treated. If I can do that and demonstrate that for others, I’m hopeful that others will do the same.

Favorite Thing About Working at Credera: I’ve been greeted so warmly since starting at Credera. Everyone has been more than helpful and such a great thought-partner. It’s been such a wonderful start!
