Rich Paterson Joins Credera as a Partner in the Dallas Office

Credera, a global, boutique consulting firm focused on strategy, transformation, data, and technology, is pleased to announce the addition of Rich Paterson to Credera’s partner team.

Rich has 22 years of experience in management consulting with an extensive background in driving strategic organizational change and transformation. Rich’s primary focus will be on helping organizations enable new strategic capabilities, improve performance, and operate with greater speed and agility in an increasingly technology- and data-driven world—from strategy through execution. 

Throughout his career, Rich has worked with Fortune 500 and mid-market clients across numerous industries, including financial services, technology, pharma/healthcare, energy, retail, consumer products, and automotive.      Rich has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration, both from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of the office, Rich loves to travel and play golf, and fancies himself a BBQ pit master and craftsman. He lives in Allen, Texas, with his wife, Alexandra, and three boys, Cohen, Connor, and Cole.

We sat down with Rich to learn more about his journey toward joining the Credera partner team.

Q&A With Rich Paterson:

What were you doing prior to joining Credera?

Prior to joining Credera, I worked at Axiom Consulting, a firm focused on revenue growth and business transformation. At Axiom, I led the go-to-market strategy for two transformation offerings: digital transformation (leveraging my technology background) and strategic cost transformation (leveraging my operations background).  

Prior to Axiom, I held consulting and industry leadership positions at a variety of firms (such as Booz & Company, Citibank, Everest Group and PwC) where I focused on driving transformation to enable new capabilities and go-to-market strategies, digital/scaled agile operating models, operational excellence, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic outsourcing.

What led to your decision to join?

First and foremost, I was excited by the culture, people, and local presence in Dallas. Through the interview process and after joining, I truly enjoyed getting to know everyone I met.

Professionally, Credera promises to be an ideal platform for me to pull together my talents in a unique way (strategy, operations, technology, and finance) to do meaningful, high impact work while scaling myself in ways that have not been possible at other firms. This is such an exciting time of growth and I can’t wait to contribute to Credera’s vision to become a global, boutique consulting firm, which I see as a worthy goal and exciting challenge.

How would you describe your approach to leadership?

1. Lead by example and practice servant leadership. Leading by example allows others to model behavior and grow as leaders themselves, which is crucial for allowing others to build the confidence to lead others.  

2. Establish a shared vision with my teams while leveraging our diverse talents and experiences. 

3. Lastly, I like to roll up my sleeves and “get my fingernails dirty” while keeping my teams challenged and always learning.

What's the most important lesson you've learned in your career so far?

A few things come to mind:

• The greatest influence and impacts are achieved through teaching, serving, and building strong relationships.

• Balance is key to an enjoyable, sustainable career—it’s a marathon, not a race.

• Change is a constant—learn to embrace it.

• Perfect is the enemy of good.

• And – not my words – if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

What are you most excited about now that you're a part of the Credera team?

What excites me the most is having an impact on people—those I work with, the clients we serve, our client’s customers, my family, friends, and the greater community. I'm grateful to have found a company that is so aligned on these priorities. I look forward to serving, growing, and making an extraordinary impact with all my new colleagues at Credera.
