Generous people are my favorite people to work with. They tend to be others-focused and make great servant leaders. They are often the most patient and helpful of teammates.
My co-worker Sarah is always busy. She juggles several important internal responsibilities and has a seemingly never-ending and lengthy to-do list. Despite her workload, she is eager to help when someone stops by her office. Rather than moving them along quickly, she is generous with her time—she listens carefully, takes time to make sure she serves others well, and makes an effort to ask meaningful questions.
My friend Andrew is a hard worker, skilled consultant, and one of the funnier people I know. Andrew volunteers his nights and weekends to spend time with special needs students through a ministry called Young Life Capernaum. I get teary eyed when I consider how much Andrew’s fun-loving personality and kind heart have positively impacted his special needs friends. Andrew is using his time and his talent to make others laugh and feel comfortable, and he is making a tremendous difference in the lives of others.
Not only is it more fun to work with people who are generous, it is inspiring. Sarah inspires me to be patient and generous with my time, while Andrew inspires me to be generous in the way I use my talents and resources.
Generosity begets generosity—it’s contagious.
At Credera, we want to model a heart of service—for our clients, for each other, and for our community. We believe generosity is foundational. We cannot serve others effectively if we lack generosity in the way we help one another.
While we believe it is important to be generous with our monetary resources (Credera allocates a percentage of profit to organizations helping people), we also know generosity is more than just philanthropy. Our desire is to be generous in the way we help one another, spend our time, and use our skills both at work and in our personal lives.
One way we live this out is by celebrating Credera Service Day. As a company, we take a day off work each year to serve our local community. In previous years, we have partnered with the North Texas Food Bank and Mercy Street.
