Credera selected by HMRC to transform data capabilities with AWS Data Lakehouse platform

LONDON -- Credera, Omnicom’s Transformation Consultancy, has been awarded a £100m contract by HMRC to develop and run the new Data Lakehouse Platform as part of the Data Warehouse and Integrations Transformation (DWIT) programme. This builds on an existing relationship of five years with the department and will help refine, develop and operate HMRC’s new AWS-native Data Lakehouse platform.

As part of HMRC’s wider 2030 Transformation Roadmap, DWIT is designed to modernise legacy data warehouses, strengthen resilience and create a more scalable, secure and responsive foundation for future tax and customs services.

Programme structure and delivery approach

DWIT will be delivered by a multi-supplier ecosystem, with Credera responsible for the development and run of the Lakehouse Platform. Credera will draw on its existing experience of working with HMRC as well as its wider data, AWS, and transformation competencies.

The programme is expected to run from September 2026 to 2031, with an initial development phase followed by a maintain-and-run service. Credera will operate the live service on a 24/7 basis through its UK onshore delivery centre capability.

The Data Lakehouse platform will provide HMRC with a scalable, resilient and secure foundation for managing data across the organisation. Over time, this will create a stronger foundation for analysis and reporting, enhanced metadata management, greater automation and a more flexible platform that can adapt to evolving business and operational needs.
