London’s Calling 2025 marked 10 years of the London-based conference, now the largest Salesforce community conference in the world. Not bad for an idea that four people originally scribbled on the back of a napkin during coffee at Dreamforce.
A journey through time
I’ve been lucky enough to attend nine of these events and have see the conference go from strength to strength. Leaving aside the amazing increase in numbers, tracks, and speakers, it attracts a large international crowd. This year included attendees from as far away as New Zealand.
I partnered with Credera at the conference, and it was great to get the opportunity to catch up with my erstwhile colleagues and see what they took away from the day. Judging by their LinkedIn posts and our conversations, everyone made the most of the experience and came back with plenty of ideas to explore.
It’s not all about Agentforce
This year’s content stood out from the Salesforce-run events, in that it wasn’t wall-to-wall Agentforce. That doesn’t mean there was nothing in this space—there were some sessions focused on Agentforce, and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features cropped up a lot. But most of the discussions revolved around community members sharing how they’ve tackled real-life challenges and educating other members of the community how to do the same. In my opinion this was a good move. Salesforce covers Agentforce really well in their events, and with TrailblazerDX London, there were ample opportunities for those wanting to dive deeper into that topic. For those of us who feel up to speed, it was nice to hear about some other aspects of Salesforce.
Documentation: quality in, quality out
A major community theme this year was documentation. I attended several sessions on this topic, ranging from key document types in projects to using AI for generating admin and developer documentation from metadata.
This is one of the welcome side effects of the current surge of interest in generative AI: As in so many technology areas, high-quality data leads to accurate and reliable responses. Any organisation looking to utilise generative AI to aid productivity needs to start with high-quality, well-maintained documentation.
Ending on a high note
London’s Calling differentiates itself from other Salesforce community conferences by featuring a headline act instead of a traditional keynote session to close out the day. When you’ve spent all day in sessions about Salesforce and talked about Salesforce between every session, it’s nice to sit back and be entertained for a while.
This year, The Invention Cycle improv group took the stage, with MC Nerine Skinner roving around the audience for suggestions, ideas, and generally making us uncomfortable! All in all, the event organisers did us proud yet again. Unfortunately for them, after 10 years of raising the bar, it just means they’ll need to work even harder next year!
